OVERVIEW
BESS monitors rig power demand and shuts down unnecessary generators while supplying up to 1.5MW of power during drilling operations. The battery supports loads greater than one generator and will instantly take transient load spikes from rig power demand. As power demands increase, the BESS combined with engine automation system will automatically launch an additional generator while offering continuous power, bridging warm up times while the additional generator comes online. The battery recharges when excess power is available from the generators (i.e. during connections). Industry leading local data monitoring keeps generators within core operating parameters and alerts the rig crew while internet of things (IOT) data monitoring provides comprehensive insight into power quality.

for the operator
Conventionally, drilling rigs run multiple generators to manage variable power demands. Multiple generators use load sharing to handle large power demands but also have to load share small power demands, causing poor fuel efficiency and higher emissions. Precision offers an energy solution that uses a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) coupled with engine automation (powered by CleanDesign) to optimize generator usage while meeting the load requirements of the rig.

Triple redundant system to protect against voltage and temperature deviations:
Exhaust manifold connects to each battery module and creates an dedicated pathway from the batteries to vent gases associated with single cell thermal runaway and battery fires.
3. Passive protection on each cell will trigger if voltage or temperature tolerances are exceeded .
2. Pack controller in each battery pack monitors voltage and temperature of each battery cell within each battery module and will disconnect the entire pack in the event of a deviation.
1. Master controller actively manages the system to enforce operating parameters and disconnects in the event of a deviation or an alarm from other protection levels.
